Racing Upgrades For the Yamaha Raptor 700

Without a doubt, Yamaha has put together one of the finest all-terrain vehicles ever seen with its Raptor 700R. The Raptor 700R is the second generation of Yamaha's Raptor line of 4-wheel ATVs. The Raptor line began in 2001 with the Yamaha Raptor 660, which featured a 660cc four-stroke engine. In 2006, Yamaha upgraded the Raptor line and introduced the Raptor 700R, with a more powerful 686cc four-stroke engine.

Thanks to the more powerful engine and other great features, professional ATV riders have quickly fallen in love with the Yamaha Raptor 700R. One feature that makes the Raptor 700R so popular with professional riders is its independent double-wishbone front suspension and cast aluminum swing arm rear suspension. This suspension package has given the Raptor 700R the ability to negotiate the toughest obstacles in any terrain. Simply put, the Yamaha Raptor 700R cuts through the toughest terrain like a warm knife through butter. In addition to having an awesome suspension package, professional ATV riders have come to love the power that the Raptor 700R puts out thanks to its 686cc four-stroke engine that features a 10:1 compression ratio. This powerful engine gives the Yamaha Raptor 700R the ability to have no problem at all when it comes to handling the tough hills and valleys that riders often trek through on their ATVs. Also, this awesomely powerful engine gives the Raptor the power needed to be the champion of any race it enters.

Besides having a massively powerful engine and an awesome suspension package, the Yamaha Raptor 700R features one of the most ergonomically-designed body styles ever put into a Yamaha ATV. With a narrow tank placed in the center and a set of generously-spaced handlebars, the Raptor 700R has a comfortable, natural feel that welcomes any rider to take this capable ATV into a tough race or to enjoy a day on it cruising through the backwoods trails. On top of having generously-spaced handlebars, the Raptor 700R has a very comfortable seat and stout foot pegs that are aggressively positioned to give riders one of the most pleasant rides found on any ATV on the market today. All in all, the Yamaha Raptor 700R is a bike that is designed with the rider's comfort in mind.

Raptor 700R Racing Performance Upgrades:

  • Vortex ECU:

The stock ECU on the Raptor 700R is... really bad. The Vortex ECU for the Yamaha Raptor 700R controls not only spark timing and voltage output but also fuel metering and other engine management functions. The result is adding more and better power, eliminate the typical Raptor 700R lag, and ultimately faster lap times with your Yamaha ATV. The ECU is also fully programmable with parameters that are far more extensive than those found in any factory setting tools; such as Rev Limits, Throttle Enrichment & Decay time, Fuel timing, High Resolution Mapping, Dwell Timing, Voltage Output and trim tables for cold starting. The Vortex ECU For the Yamaha Raptor 700R is a MUST HAVE Upgrade!

  • Exhaust:

The RP Race Shorty Exhaust for the Yamaha Raptor 700R is made with premium stainless steel. It is TIG welded and designed for a modified engine. Air Fuel tuning is highly recommended. The exhaust systems tubing step and size are carefully designed for maximum power.

  • Air Intake:

One of the most common performance upgrades made on a Raptor 700 is the air intake system. The Fuel Customs Intake kit for the Yamaha Raptor 700R with its new tube and box design achieves an increase of 1.5 HP from 5000 rpm on, and 3 HP increase at peak over the stock intake with a K&N type filter on it.

  • Long Travel Racing A-Arms:

The Raptor 700R has an excellent chassis but there is lot of room for improvements. The Houser Racing Long Travel MX A-Arms for the Yamaha Raptor 700R offers and Caster Adjustment and Maximum Ground Clearance compared to the stock a-arms. A Pair of ELKA Suspension Long Travel Shocks are a MUST to complete these Houser Racing A-Arms

  • Suspension / Shocks:

The Yamaha Raptor 700R stock shocks offer poor performance and adjustability, but upgrading to a set of ELKA Suspension Shocks Stage 5 on your Yamaha Raptor 700R guarantees significantly increased ride quality and greater adjustability. The Stage 5’s are designed around 3 key performance factors: high hydraulic flow, lightweight components and low-friction internal and moving parts. The massive oil displacement of their new High-Flow internals allow a much more precise tuning and smoother damping action than any other ATV shock currently available. In return you get better bump absorption, greater comfort and you will reduce lap times significantly. Most importantly, ELKA Shocks are custom built for you and your Yamaha Raptor 700R. Custom setup includes Riders Weight, Riding Terrain (MX, XC or Dunes), A-Arms Setup (Long or Regular Travel) and Swingarm Setup (Extended or Stock).

  • Steering Stabilizer:

Steering dampers and stabilizers can greatly improve control and reduce rider fatigue. Regardless of whether you race or ride, you can benefit from one. The Precision Racing Elite Steering Stabilizer for the Yamaha Raptor 700R includes a separately controlled damping for going straight and turning, rock solid mounting with proper mounting geometry, the ability to absorb thousands of pounds of pressure on impacts, plus an internal reservoir. You get up to 65% better impact absorption with a far larger and more linear adjustment range. This steering damper also has larger wear surfaces which increases product longevity. The steering damper mounts up to existing hardware with ease.

  • Clutch:

The Hinson Racing Clutch Basket Yamaha Raptor 700R allows clutch assembly to spin truer creating less heat when clutch is disengaged and when used with Hinson Clutch Components pressure plate and inner hub helps eliminate clutch chatter.

  • Racing Axle:

The strongest and most reliable high-performance ATV axle on the planet, the RPM Dominator 2 for the Yamaha Raptor 700R, no other ATV axle in the world has taken as many professional racers and teams to the podium as the Dominator 2. It features adjustability on the Yamaha Raptor 700R from -2" to +1" on each side compared to the stock oem Raptor 700R axle. The reliability of this axle is so good that it also includes a full Lifetime Warranty against bending and breaking for as long as you own your axle!
